Join Al Borde in Christmas Toy Drive

As a “thank you” for a toy donation (and just in case all you receive this Christmas is a bag of black coal), the Al Borde crew and Santa’s helpers over at Nacional Records want to give you an iTunes gift card worth 20 free downloads of great Latin Alternative music, including “Mar Adentro” from Anita Tijoux, “Cosita Rica” from Bomba Estéreo, and “San Antonio” from Latin Grammy winners Choc Quib Town.

This Sunday, December 11, 2011, the Al Borde crew is supporting “Juguetón”, an annual toy drive founded by Spanish broadcast television network Azteca America. The event will take place at South Gate Park beginning at 2 pm, immediately following the city’s annual Christmas parade.

Al Borde will be present at the El Clasificado booth (look for a big yellow tent), and will assist in distributing the toys at 4:00p.m. later that afternoon. You can also deliver your unwrapped donation to the Al Borde headquarters at 11205 Imperial Highway in the city of Norwalk until Friday 6:00p.m. The Nacional Records iTunes gift card will be distributed at the AlBorde/El Clasificado booth at the event.

The Juguetón toy drive is the largest in Latin America, collecting and distributing over 15 million toys during the 2009-2010 Christmas celebrations in Mexico, United States and Guatemala. This is the first year the Jugueton from Mexico is presented to the Latino community in Los Angeles and according to Luis J. Echarte, Chairman of Azteca America, additional markets are being considered for future toy drives as well.

The event will be led by Juguetón founder and television personality Jorge Garralda and will have the triple Grammy nominated group Elefante and talent from TV Azteca as special guests, as well as regional Mexican artists Ramon Ayala, Lorenzo de Monteclaro and Jenni Rivera.

Other non-profit organizations participating in the toy drive include: UDLA (Union de Discapacitados Latinoamericanos), Guadalupe Radio (Campana Nino Jesus), From Heart to Heart (De Corazon a Corazon Foundation), South Gate Police Department (Santa Cop Program) and Apostolic Worship Epicenter.
