Ana Tijoux presents the music video for "Shock"

Since her beginnings, Ana Tijoux has rapped about the world around her. With Makiza, a group she joined in 1997, the Latin rapper was singing about the “Vida Salvaje” (savage life) in a single that critisied politics and prompted the new generation to take a stand against social injustice. And in 2009, Tijoux emerged more powerful than ever with her second solo release titled 1977, which received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.

Now, Tijoux prepares for the release of La Bala (Nacional Records), which is scheduled to be released in late January and features a collaboration with Jorge Drexler, Academy Award winner for Best Original Song for his “Al Otro Lado del Río” composition from The Motorcycle Diaries.

The first single from La Bala comes under the name of “Shock” and serves as a political testimony to the student protests occurring around the world. In the video for the single, fans get a preview of the forthcoming 11-track album that continues Tijoux’s quest to put on display the world as she sees it.

La Bala also includes collaborations with Los Aldeanos, Monica Blaire, Curumin, Javier Barria and Solo di Medina.
