Los Tigres del Norte Returns To The Stage In 2012 Tour

Some refer to Los Tigres del Norte as the urban cowboys. But to those who grew up with their music blazing through speakers during a typical family weekend get together, the norteño band is an extended member of the family and someone who with instruments in hand, sings about the everyday tribulations that an immigrant community goes through.

Los Tigres del Norte is the norteño voice of the people. Since their 1974 release of "Contrabando y Traición", a song about a woman smuggler who shoots the man and takes off with the money, up until their 2009 release of “La Granja”, a song that includes various symbolical elements such as a fox which represents former Mexican president Vicente Fox whom is portrayed in the single’s music video as stealing from the working class, the band has held true to that fan-given title.

The subject matter of their songs strikes a chord with people across borders and in 2012 their lyrics will continue to reach audiences across the United States with a tour that will take them to California, New York, Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida. As part of the tour, Los Tigres del Norte will perform for the first time at the Valley Performing Arts Center at California State University, Northridge.

Since the group is not currently promoting a new album release, it is expected for them to present a repertoire of their classic renditions of songs such as “Un día a la Vez”, “Jaula de Oro” and “Vivan los Mojados”.

Watch the exclusive Al Borde video where at the Hollywood Palladium and nearly one year ago, Los Tigres del Norte made history by uniting musicians Paulina Rubio, Diego Torres, Andrés Calamaro, Zach de la Rocha, Juanes and "Residente" from the notorious Calle 13 to accompany them for the recording of their “MTV Unplugged” release, album for which they won the 2011 Latin Grammy Award for "Best Norteño Album" and for which they are currently nominated in the 54th Annual Grammy Awards taking place on Sunday, February 12th for “Best Banda or Norteño Album” .
