Lou Reed and Metallica collaborate for the album release of "LULU", set to drop worldwide at the end of October. Although this partnership might have raised some eyebrows at first, both of these musical acts knew exactly what they were doing when they teamed up in May of this year to work on the brainchild of Reed.
The lyrics and background of the album originally came from a theatrical production Reed was working on in Berlin. The instigator for all of this? German expressionist Frank Wedekind, whose 20th. century plays, Earth Spirit and Pandora's Box, explored love and desire in a darker sense.
Reed used these concepts and inspiration to form the framework for his latest album. Fate stepped in during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concerts in 2009 when he met the men of Metallica.
The album includes ten tracks:
1. Brandenburg Gate (4:19)
2. The View (5:17)
3. Pumping Blood (7:24)
4. Mistress Dread (6:52)
5. Iced Honey (4:36)
6. Cheat On Me (11:26)
7. Frustration (8:33)
8. Little Dog (8:01)
9. Dragon (11:08)
10. Junior Dad (19:28)
The album is produced by Lou Reed, Metallica, Hal Willner, & Greg Fidelman and mixed by Fidelman. The album becomes vailable worldwide on October 31 through Universal Music Records and on November 1 through Warner Bros. Records.
